Mr. Federman mastered hundreds of projects for both vinyl and CD. He received numerous RIAA certified Platinum and Gold awards for mastering projects for artists such as Foreigner, AC/DC, Genesis, and the Bee Gees. Mr. Federman's other awards include Golden Reel, NAIRD and NARAS. His career at Atlantic was highlighted upon receiving a Grammy as Analog and Digital Mastering Engineer for the 10 disc/CD box set of Atlantic History of Rhythm and Blues. After leaving Atlantic Records in 1988, Mr. Federman opened his own mastering facility, SAJE Sound. SAJE Sound is a state-of-the-art digital mastering/editing facility. The studio has also developed a reputation in the field of audio restoration. While SAJE Sound masters primarily for major labels, Mr. Federman continues to master projects for individual artists and independent labels from which he was nominated in 2004 for a Latin Grammy Award. His eclectic discography spans the fields of jazz, latin, hip-hop, rock, classical, country, and all musical genres in-between. Recent Gold and Platinum awards include Monsters of Rock, Toby Keith, Monster Ballads, Going South, Billy Ray Cyrus, and the entire Kidz Bop catalog. Mastering is the process of preparing and transferring recorded audio to a medium that will be used in the production of copies. The specific medium varies, depending on the intended release format of the final product. For digital audio releases, there is more than one possible master medium, chosen based on replication factory requirements and/or record label security concerns. The chosen medium is then used as the source from which all copies will be made. |
